bomber01 Posted March 10, 2015 at 02:25 PM Report Posted March 10, 2015 at 02:25 PM Hello, I would like to apply at Xiamen or Yunnan Unniversity in order to study chinese mandarin next year but I don't understand why there is so much differences for applying fees between those 2 unniversity. Long-term (1year) Chinese Program at Xiamen Unniversity cost RMB 26,000 source : http://school.cucas.edu.cn/Study-In-Xiamen-University_23/Program-Long-term-Chinese-Program--Fall-Semester-_35467.html Long-term (1year) chinese programm at yuannan Unniversity cost 11,600 RMB. Source : http://school.cucas.edu.cn/Study-In-Yunnan-University_154/Program-Regular-Course-of-Chinese-Language-and-Culture_33256.html Why is there such big differences between these 2 unniversity. Anyone know ? Do you have any recommendations ? Many Thanks in advance for your answers !! Quote
ZhangKaiRong Posted March 10, 2015 at 08:36 PM Report Posted March 10, 2015 at 08:36 PM Xiamen University is a famous and prestigious one in terms of academic merits. If I remember correctly, it was also selected as the nicest university campus in Asia. Thr city is on the coast. A lot of foreigners want to study there, but the number of students who can attend the classes is limited. If supply is fixed but demand is high (and getting higher), you can raise the price. Yunnan University is not a famous one (I saw a list of best universities in China, and it was not even among the best 100), location is also not too convenient. Foreignerd tend to prefer coastal cities to Inner China ones. In terms of level of teaching Chinese for foreigners, there shouldn't be big differences, language programmes are more or less the same if you see the curriculum, textbooks, methods, etc. 1 Quote
