Koneko Posted May 27, 2005 at 04:21 PM Report Posted May 27, 2005 at 04:21 PM I have noticed the 的(de) would change its reading to 的 (di) in many Chinese songs, can anyone please explain why?! Can we also use "di" in daily conversation, or its use is merely limited in songs?! Thanks!! Quote
shibo77 Posted May 27, 2005 at 06:13 PM Report Posted May 27, 2005 at 06:13 PM The singers like to pronounce 的 as di4 because it's pronunciation in phrases like "我的..." is de5, which is a 轻声neutral tone, not very emphasised. "di4" sounds much better. In the language, "的" is pronounced de5 sometimes, and di4 or di2 othertimes. In normal conversation you would say (目的mu4di4 的确di2que4 我的wo3de5). -Shìbó Quote
