samc11 Posted March 25, 2015 at 01:56 AM Report Posted March 25, 2015 at 01:56 AM Hello, I couple months ago, I acquired an object with an inscription. I presume it is classical Chinese. I've asked several Chinese people and they all agree in that they do not know, hahaha. Would somebody please help me? Quote
OneEye Posted March 25, 2015 at 10:09 AM Report Posted March 25, 2015 at 10:09 AM I think it's a Buddhist mantra, most likely transliterated from Sanskrit. You'll have to find someone who can read this sort of Buddhist text to find out what it says, because it isn't "normal" Chinese. Quote
anonymoose Posted March 25, 2015 at 10:23 AM Report Posted March 25, 2015 at 10:23 AM The text down the right hand side says "Guanyin (Buddha) inspiration speech", and the text at the bottom says "Peace and Fortune". The rest of the text is a Buddhist mantra using Chinese characters to approximate the sounds of a different language, probably Sanskrit. So, the text, if read as Chinese, doesn't have any meaning. 1 Quote
