Ian_Lee Posted May 27, 2005 at 10:00 PM Report Posted May 27, 2005 at 10:00 PM Finally Sino-Russian border dispute is settled peacefully with half of the Bear Island returned to China (and ratified by NPC yesterday). I have no problem with the lost lands signed off by the unequal treaties during the Qing Dynasty. But......Bear Island was taken away by the Soviet Red Army in 1929 when USSR had qualms with "Young" Marshal Chang Hsieh Liang and waged the invasion into Manchuria in 1928. There was no treaty at all regarding the Bear Island. So why just asking back for half of the island? Quote
