A dozen years ago I saw some friends playing a game with Chinese characters.  It was played with small squares of paper.  Each player would write a Chinese word on the square and then play it, one word at a time, on a blank board composed of empty squares. The word had to make logical sense with the word(s) that were adjacent to it.  It was play in a similar way to scrabble.  Has anyone seen this?

I have a game on my android tablet that is called Chinese Crossword. You have to choose from a set of characters and put one in the grid and then using characters in the set ( they are in a predetermained order) make as many words as you can.

As you make a word the characters used in it are removed making room for more combinations. it has options for size of grid and difficulty. Its strangely interesting and fun.
