Shelley Posted March 28, 2015 at 10:48 PM Report Posted March 28, 2015 at 10:48 PM My latest lesson is about dates, months and years. One of the exercises is to substitute dates from the choices given. I have attached a scan of the choices. i am trying to work out what the 小and the 大 mean. all I have been able to find out is that it is something to do with Lunar Month Attributes but nothing more. What are Lunar Month Attributes? There is no mention of this in the lesson or the lesson notes Also is this suppose to represent a sample of a Chinese calendar?. Any ideas? Quote
Orpheus Posted March 29, 2015 at 12:34 AM Report Posted March 29, 2015 at 12:34 AM In the lunar calendar, one month consists of either 29 or 30 days. 小 refers to the months with only 29 days while 大 30 days. 2 Quote
skylee Posted March 29, 2015 at 01:19 AM Report Posted March 29, 2015 at 01:19 AM #2 is right. So you can see that a lunar year of 12 months is considerably shorter than a year in the Gregorian calendar, which means that there are leap years. According to the Chinese lunar calendar, a leap year has a whole additional lunar month instead of just an additional day in February as in the Gregorian calendar. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_calendar 1 Quote
