haley_usa Posted April 6, 2015 at 01:42 AM Report Posted April 6, 2015 at 01:42 AM My grandmother is friends with a woman who owns two old Chinese drawings. The woman got them from her art dealer family member who collected classic style Chinese art, but is no longer alive to ask questions to. I can not read the hanzi well at all, because it's written in a cursive script. I was hoping someone can tell me if they recognize the names of the artists and/or what the sentences say, or at least any of the characters you do recognize. I just need any info at all to tell her so she can have peace of mind about the history of the pictures and to show her I tried to get help. Lastly, she thinks these are the originals, but I don't think I can agree. The signatures (especially on #2) look like extremely old hanzi that have probably evolved by now, right? I think these have to be duplicate prints, the paper is in perfect condition and it doesn't make sense to me if the clothes styles and hanzi seem very old. (Does anyone know which eras the clothes or musical instrument represent?) Sorry for the poor quality photos (the shadows, perspective, and water spot in the camera). 1: > 2: > Quote
