tooironic Posted April 12, 2015 at 05:50 AM Report Posted April 12, 2015 at 05:50 AM I hear this term used all the time in academic contexts in Chinese and I've yet to come across a decent translation in English. Any ideas? Quote
Angelina Posted April 12, 2015 at 05:58 AM Report Posted April 12, 2015 at 05:58 AM I don't think there is one universal translation equivalent. Usually it means the subjects of a study, e.g. you conduct an experiment and then your subjects are called 研究对象. It can also be translated as research objective. I usually use Bing now that Google is having problems and have discovered the Dict part, check it out: http://cn.bing.com/dict/search?intlF=0&q=研究对象&FORM=HDRSC8 1 Quote
oceancalligraphy Posted April 12, 2015 at 05:59 AM Report Posted April 12, 2015 at 05:59 AM I guess it depends on the field of research. Some ideas are: study subjects, research subjects, patients (in the case of a medical study), study sample, study participants. 2 Quote
