PipSqueak Posted June 12, 2005 at 04:04 PM Report Share Posted June 12, 2005 at 04:04 PM 清朝的没落qing1 chao2 de mo4 luo4 Hi When pronouncing two words which are both the fourth pinyin sound, is it automatically changed to mo2 luo4? This is the case for 蚂蚁 ma2 yi4 , isn't it?

This is the case for 蚂蚁 ma2 yi4 , isn't it? I don't think so. When there are two third tones together, the first third tone is changed to second tone. This is the case for 螞蟻 (ma3 yi3).
