Amho607 Posted May 8, 2015 at 04:34 AM Report Share Posted May 8, 2015 at 04:34 AM It's a long tragic story, but I ended up with some Chinese characters tattooed to my back. I was told it meant strength, but I've looked up the word and the symbols for strength look nothing like what's in my back. I'm scared to find out, but I need to know. What does it say on my back. I've attached a pic.

AdamD Posted May 11, 2015 at 05:56 AM Report Share Posted May 11, 2015 at 05:56 AM The long tragic story ends with Amho607 failing to take a back photo, dislocating a shoulder and passing out under a chest of drawers.

Amho607 Posted May 14, 2015 at 10:54 PM Author Report Share Posted May 14, 2015 at 10:54 PM I attached the pic. Don't know what happened. Don't really feel like being the butt of all the jokes...pun intended Thought this forum would actually be helpful, but I forgot people are just mean when they can hide behind social media Thanks anyways. I'm just laddering the thing off.

AdamD Posted May 14, 2015 at 11:20 PM Report Share Posted May 14, 2015 at 11:20 PM Thought this forum would actually be helpful, but I forgot people are just mean when they can hide behind social media I'm sorry you feel that way. We were, and still are, ready to help you. The only fun we had was in picturing the mechanics of someone taking a selfie of their back, which is a funny mental image with or without tattoos. I know couldn't do it without spraining something.
Kamille Posted May 15, 2015 at 05:53 AM Report Share Posted May 15, 2015 at 05:53 AM You shouldn't laser it off straightaway like that. Sometimes tattoos don't mean what they should have meant but still they might have a meaning to be proud of. On top of that your tattoo might well be written in a beautiful calligraphic fashion. I'd actually understand If you don't trust us enough to post a picture anymore (we don't know you and yet we crack jokes, well I'd be vexed too if I was in your shoes, though about my joke I thought you'd agree that you put up quite the beginning of a thrilling conspiracy plot in your first post ), but at least send a picture to roddy: he's willing to help and is definitely the opposite of a bad troll. That said you do what you want to do but I think it'd be a pity to erase it without knowing.
anonymoose Posted May 15, 2015 at 06:40 AM Report Share Posted May 15, 2015 at 06:40 AM Reminds me of the guy who hoped God would help him win the lottery. When he eventually met his maker, he asked God, "Why didn't you help me win the lottery, and instead make me the butt of your jokes?". God replied, "How can you expect me to help you win the lottery if you don't even buy a ticket?!".
edelweis Posted May 15, 2015 at 06:58 AM Report Share Posted May 15, 2015 at 06:58 AM Attaching pictures is trickier than it seems because you have to select the picture first, and then there is a different, unconspicuous button that you need to click in order to upload the picture to the forum. Newbies often don't notice the button, even regulars sometimes forget about it. @Amho607: do what you want to do. Your choice. @anonymoose: that was not terribly helpful especially when the OP has already said that they find this kind of joking hurtful.
Melanie1989 Posted May 15, 2015 at 11:23 AM Report Share Posted May 15, 2015 at 11:23 AM OP, no-one was making fun of you, just the situation was rather funny. I have tattoos on my back and actually did try to take a photo of them when i first got them. Eight years later, i have sciatica I can honestly say one thing about this community -everyone is very helpful and positive and friendly. I have given these guys (and girls) a thousand opportunities to be rude and make fun of me and they never have (as far as i know). There is a reason why, even though my Chinese is awful, i still keep coming back. Also, there's nothing wrong with joking around. It's not like anyone called you stupid or anything. Check out my profile picture. You think that's a dog? That's actually me! But then, it was good lighting. Please come back. Sometimes people need to know where the line is before they know not to cross it.

But I just got back from China and hit up 5 cities. My crappy chinglish got me around fine and was even able to haggle prices.
roddy Posted May 15, 2015 at 02:54 PM Report Share Posted May 15, 2015 at 02:54 PM Write us up a trip report, and tell us how you coped with your Chinese - people love that kind of thing, and it'll make up for being a filthy lurker!

Amho607 Posted May 16, 2015 at 04:23 AM Author Report Share Posted May 16, 2015 at 04:23 AM Hopefully it posted this time. I got this tattoo after something really bad happened to me. I was young and stupid. It supposed to mean strength. Which symbolized that I was strong enough to get through what happened, but I have a sinking feeling it doesn't mean that at all. The pic posted sideways.
