So, how DO you say so-so in Mandarin, anyway?

Chalk another one up to "Beijing Chinese is best Chinese"

It's hardly "Beijing Chinese".  It's common in plenty of places nowhere near Beijing.

For someone who seems to have a thing against people conflating Beijing with China, it's pretty ironic that you do the same thing, conflating 'the North' with Beijing

@renzhe I've never heard 凑凑 for not bad. It's always 凑合, although sometimes the 'he' is pronounced 'huo'

Whatwhat? I didn't post anything! You think about me too much! :D

I've heard 还凑合, 还行, 马马虎虎, 一般 in different contexts. I admit to not having a clue about geographical preferences.

And Skylee is a native speaker.

It doesn't change anything to the fact that 普 is an adjective. But it reassures me to know that he learnt Chinese from his mother, rocking in his craddle and not from a teacher in a school, rocking on his chair, considering how well he speaks the language. Well now I guess I just need to know if Scott is also a native speaker or not :D . But Anyway, right after I posted I thought that he might actually have been replying to the OP and not to me. And if it's the case, well then you can just ignore my previous post.
