oshmans Posted June 3, 2015 at 06:54 AM Report Posted June 3, 2015 at 06:54 AM Hello, I have an unusual question. I have a question about characters on a Murakami Takashi print. I know he is Japanese, but he studied traditional Japanese art. He sometimes uses traditional characters and scripts made up of old Japanese/Chinese characters. Typically his prints have Buddhist related sayings or references to early Japanese artists. Anyway in the right corner of the image below, there are a couple of people who are holding a bag. Does anyone recognize the writing on the bag? I do not believe this is contemporary writing. I recognize individual components on the right character. For instance it contains the old character for 学 written as 學. Any help or reference to decipher this will be helpful. Thanks. Quote
skylee Posted June 3, 2015 at 01:07 PM Report Posted June 3, 2015 at 01:07 PM I think it says, from right to left, 隆氏. 隆 is of course the artist's name Takashi. http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php?page=chardict&cdcanoce=0&cdqchi=%E9%9A%86%E6%B0%8F Quote
