lengjai69 Posted June 3, 2005 at 11:04 PM Report Posted June 3, 2005 at 11:04 PM My chinese friend told me that I sounded a bit bookish when I spoke because I pronounced 和 as 'he2". He said it sounds more conversational to say 'han4'. I can't see this in any of my grammar books or text books. Anybody can explain this? Thanks in advance. Quote
skylee Posted June 3, 2005 at 11:36 PM Report Posted June 3, 2005 at 11:36 PM I have heard han4 used on Taiwanese TV/drama. But I don't think it is bookish to use he2. Quote

xuezhongwen Posted June 4, 2005 at 12:20 AM Report Posted June 4, 2005 at 12:20 AM he2 is official pronunciation, han4 is only used in Taiwan, and they fully understand he2 as well. Quote
RobinChase Posted June 4, 2005 at 12:49 AM Report Posted June 4, 2005 at 12:49 AM Only Taiwan and Singapore sometimes use (han4) Quote
