Shelley Posted June 10, 2015 at 10:12 AM Report Posted June 10, 2015 at 10:12 AM I have just found this course starting 6/7/15 from edx. https://www.edx.org/course/chinese-language-learn-basic-mandarin-mandarinx-mx101x?utm_source=Course+Announcements+Mailing+List&utm_medium=email&utm_content=button&utm_campaign=Student_Newsletter_June_9 I have signed up, might be a bit basic but maybe a good refresher course and fill in some gaps, 1 Quote
Shelley Posted July 8, 2015 at 03:14 PM Author Report Posted July 8, 2015 at 03:14 PM Well just started this week. i am very impressed with what you get for a free course. Downloadable and printable texts and worksheets. I have only just started lesson one but the teacher, Estella, is good, she has good English and seems to be emphasising tones and speech. Characters and pinyin are used throughout and you have your choice of traditional or simplified. Looks very promising. Quote
Elizabeth_rb Posted July 28, 2015 at 09:28 AM Report Posted July 28, 2015 at 09:28 AM I signed up for this one too - out of curiosity and to see how it was taught. Haven't got to it yet, though.... There seem to be another 5 courses planned. Quote
Shelley Posted July 28, 2015 at 10:04 AM Author Report Posted July 28, 2015 at 10:04 AM Glad you have joined the course. Did you see my blog? I describe the first 2 weeks. I am going to do a sort of diary with this course. http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/blog/108-my-chinese-learning-blog/ Quote
roddy Posted July 28, 2015 at 10:12 AM Report Posted July 28, 2015 at 10:12 AM Shelley, you should post each week as a new entry, rather than editing it in, otherwise nobody will see you've updated. Also, you can invite Elizabeth to post entries to if you want. Quote
Shelley Posted July 28, 2015 at 01:10 PM Author Report Posted July 28, 2015 at 01:10 PM Oh ok, hadn't worked that out. I will add a new entry for each week from now on. Thanks for the help roddy. Quote
Elizabeth_rb Posted August 5, 2015 at 08:00 PM Report Posted August 5, 2015 at 08:00 PM No, I've still not got to it yet!! It'll be too late by the time I get started, but, irrelevantly enough, I'm busy stitching entries for the local summer show at the mo, as well as clearing out as near to 50% as I can (pref more) of my stuff preparatory to moving! Not a good time for on-line courses just now.... Quote
Bigdumogre Posted August 5, 2015 at 08:08 PM Report Posted August 5, 2015 at 08:08 PM I am enrolling for it now. Will give it a spin this week and offer feedback Quote
Shelley Posted August 5, 2015 at 10:08 PM Author Report Posted August 5, 2015 at 10:08 PM @Bigdumogre glad to see you are joining the course. You could probably still catch up and be on target to take the final exam. To get a pass you need to do each of the weeks quizzes and the final exam. Hope you enjoy it. Quote
