uni419 Posted June 12, 2015 at 02:20 PM Report Share Posted June 12, 2015 at 02:20 PM Right now it's a partial transliteration, 贾思庭,everyone mixes it up with Justin Bieber. Not the biggest issue but still mildly grating. Though of changing it to 贾牧之 (姜文万岁!)but felt like it'd probably be better to ask here before naming myself after a movie character, especially since I'd like a name I could use in grad school/ a professional capacity. Some info about me. US Army Cadet (ROTC) Grew up in the Midwest Go to school near DC Most of my friends in China are from Shandong or Dongbei Dog person Any and all help greatly appreciated
edelweis Posted June 17, 2015 at 12:29 PM Report Share Posted June 17, 2015 at 12:29 PM Sorry, I am not qualified to offer advice on this topic. Perhaps the native speakers will come and help. Just curious, what do your friends from shandong and dongbei think about it?
aone Posted July 8, 2015 at 07:01 AM Report Share Posted July 8, 2015 at 07:01 AM 贾嘉?
Lu Posted July 8, 2015 at 02:07 PM Report Share Posted July 8, 2015 at 02:07 PM 贾嘉 sounds a bit cutesy in my ears. From what the OP is telling about himself I'd opt for something a bit more, I don't know, manly and strong.
