sunluosi Posted June 15, 2015 at 07:14 AM Report Posted June 15, 2015 at 07:14 AM I live in Wuhan, Hubei but often go to Huanggang (but the downtown area, Huangzhou) with family, so know a little about Hubei generally. Huangmei seems a little out of the way (even though it's technically Huanggang, but Huanggang is very big geographically) and I'm guessing it's not going to be too convenient to travel to other places. If you want somewhere that's not got a lot of foreigners (and foreign comforts) then it may be OK. I'm guessing it's about a 4 hour bus ride to Wuhan and 2.5 hours to the main part of Huanggang and don't think the new high speed trains in the area go there (I may be wrong). Seems like there is a railway station there though. I think it's highly unlikely to find someone else that's worked there and it might just be a bit of an adventure that you need to explore yourself. ChTTay Posted June 15, 2015 at 11:19 AM Report Posted June 15, 2015 at 11:19 AM "I just got a job offer as a English teacher in Hungmei City." Ask the school if they have other foreigners working there now and, if they do, ask to be given contact details OR for your details to be given to them. Alternatively, ask for contact details for the last person who worked there. This should be normal proceedure for taking any teaching job in China when you don't have chance to actually go there yourself and check it out. It shouldn't be a problem 1 Quote
889 Posted June 15, 2015 at 11:59 AM Report Posted June 15, 2015 at 11:59 AM Make sure you know exactly where you'll be teaching and living: find the places on a map and make sure you're actually in the urban area. In China you can technically be in a certain city but actually be quite far on the outskirts. Quote
