newbie4234 Posted June 18, 2015 at 08:23 AM Report Posted June 18, 2015 at 08:23 AM I recently got a calligraphy tattoo of my last name from a world renowned artist the artist is quite famous and specializes in brush stroke tattoos, with coverage on cnn and many china media outlets however - I showed the character to my parents and they said it is very poorly written (is this true or just a projection of their distaste for tattoos in general?) here is the photo please provide feedback Quote
Lu Posted June 18, 2015 at 01:41 PM Report Posted June 18, 2015 at 01:41 PM I'm not an expert, but I can usually tell good calligraphy from bad and if you ask me, what you have there is good. It's certainly not 'poorly written'. I can absolutely believe the person who wrote that is famous for his work. In the end, it's a matter of taste and if your parents don't like tattoos in general, the only solution is to keep your shirt on in their company (or to not get tattoos of course, but you clearly like yours so that's not an option). 1 Quote
Shelley Posted June 18, 2015 at 09:24 PM Report Posted June 18, 2015 at 09:24 PM I think the calligraphy is good but it much heavier ink than your other tattoos, it looks out of place. I think each of your tattoos are good on their their own but together they clash. Is there going to be any colour in the other 2? That might help balance it all out. Quote
newbie4234 Posted June 19, 2015 at 03:35 AM Author Report Posted June 19, 2015 at 03:35 AM Thanks a lot for the feedback! That is reassuring The photo was taken right after so the ink is fresh After healing it will eventually fade to be same as my others Quote
