AlexanderC Posted June 22, 2015 at 01:45 AM Report Posted June 22, 2015 at 01:45 AM Hello, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a site where I could download MP3s where a phrase or word is said in English, and then in Mandarin Chinese, in order to serve a flashcard function, where the first few times through is learning, and then after that is quizing yourself. I've used them before, but I'm also looking for something more in depth, and possibly with the HSK tests and levels in mind. Does anyone know what I mean? Quote
ChTTay Posted June 22, 2015 at 02:38 PM Report Posted June 22, 2015 at 02:38 PM Glossika (search this site) You'd have to splice up the audio yourself though Quote
wibr Posted June 22, 2015 at 03:14 PM Report Posted June 22, 2015 at 03:14 PM Yeah Glossika would work, see the long Glossika thread for more information. You would have to cut the files into pieces and then merge the correct pieces back together, without being comfortable on the commandline and a scripting language that's not really possible. I did that and it took me quite a bit of time. It's a shame that they don't provide their materials in a more customer friendly format. Quote
AlexanderC Posted June 22, 2015 at 05:11 PM Author Report Posted June 22, 2015 at 05:11 PM Okay, so does it have the HSK in mind? Thanks for your responses, you two. Quote
wibr Posted June 22, 2015 at 06:51 PM Report Posted June 22, 2015 at 06:51 PM No the Glossika sentences don't follow any HSK structure, they are completely independent. Quote
ChTTay Posted June 23, 2015 at 04:15 AM Report Posted June 23, 2015 at 04:15 AM They don't follow a HSK 'structure' but the words/sentences at Fluency level 1 of glossika are around HSK3/4. There is obvious overlap here. Fluency 1 would include basic sentence structures and words that you'd need to know in life and that would be needed or at least useful for HSK. I wouldn't get too caught up in HSK. Just improve your overall Chinese with an 'eye' on HSK. Quote
