Jamasian Posted June 29, 2015 at 05:08 AM Report Posted June 29, 2015 at 05:08 AM If anyone remembers I was keen on coming to China for a short-term refreshment in language followed by an internship opportunity. I finally have my internship here in Shanghai, but it was a painful experience with Yudefang or YCC Shanghai. I recommend getting a full personal review before applying to any program outside of the country. In country you have the luxury of checking out the school and classes first. I wrote a blog about my full experience here because it's laughable but it hurt my pockets. Main reasons not to choose them if you're serious about studying Mandarin or working. Didn't help set up apartment with four month's advanced notice Lied about having Mandarin professors Didn't communicate about the progress of finding an internship Resorted to yelling at students when students inquired about things they found strange in the company Keeping the fact that it's a family run business secret Set up interviews at opposite ends of the city at conflicting times Save yourself the headache and go to a real university. You can audit classes and after becoming friendly with your teachers, they will help you find internships or jobs. http://avoidinmidkingdom.blogspot.com/ 2 Quote
LiMo Posted June 30, 2015 at 12:37 AM Report Posted June 30, 2015 at 12:37 AM Wow, thanks for the heads up. I may be considering this sort of thing soon so the warning is much appreciated. It's kind of unbelievable that people can be so unprofessional and childish. I'm sorry you had to go through all that. Forgive me if it's already in the blog somewhere, I didn't read all of it, what are you up to in the aftermath of this debacle? Quote
Jamasian Posted July 3, 2015 at 03:40 PM Author Report Posted July 3, 2015 at 03:40 PM I have been a bit too busy to update it but I'm fine now. I'm currently contemplating getting a full time or studying for my MA like my original plan. I will share that I believe the YCC has seen my review and are quite upset with me. I feel I must share with everyone just how much. However, I'm not interested in communicating with them anymore so I'm not replying. -_- Quote
