muyongshi Posted July 10, 2015 at 02:54 AM Report Posted July 10, 2015 at 02:54 AM I've searching for the word for catering both as in "catering business" and "we'd like to cater your event". The translations I've found in the dictionary, when I say them to my Chinese friends/employees they don't seem to communicate the connotation that I would hope they would. The context for this, is we run a restaurant business and are trying to promote our catering. We've done several events already, but I still haven't heard "the word" for it. I'm guessing, there may not be an exact word that holds the same connotation as it does for us in English. thanks! Quote

muyongshi Posted July 10, 2015 at 04:01 AM Author Report Posted July 10, 2015 at 04:01 AM Hmmm.... I guess it could be. However, a lot of what we offer and do is more about providing deserts/appetizer at events and parties, rather than full meals. Quote

Until my employee looked at me cross-eyed. If I can't find anything else, that's probably what I'll wind up using. Or something like 餐饮供应服务. I've even found contracts with titles as such, so it may be my best bet. The word used in HK is 到會 or 到會服務 .Thanks! I'll ask around and see if anyone has that usage here in Sichuan. Quote
Kenny同志 Posted July 10, 2015 at 12:15 PM Report Posted July 10, 2015 at 12:15 PM I assume you've thought of 餐饮 - 餐饮服务,活动餐饮, sommat like that. Many people would expect full meals, among other things, if a restaurant says they 提供餐飲服務 for business meetings so Mr Mu may need to make that clear to his potential customers if he does not provide full meals at all.
