Hi all! So basically I got stuck on my homework and I'm not sure whether I'm right. The task was: Reword the sentence using the given word of phrase. Discuss any changes in meaning.

I was only able to do the 2nd and 3rd, but I couldn't make any sense of the meaning of the first sentence. Also I'm not too sure of the changes in meaning.

re 1)

上学校= to attend (classes at) a school

= the old ... (the one from before)

re 一直 it seems odd to insert it between 从 and 到. Also using it with 都 might be redundant. But let's see what other people think about it.

Well, I'm not 100% sure, but I think sentences with 一直 are OK.

Also using it with 都 might be redundant

In fact, 都 usually is quite "redundant" in the sense that it is used after other words in order to stress that the speaker means the whole periode of time or the whole group etc., like : 我每天都跑步。

I'd say that ir 2) and 3)  adding 一直 means "all that time, from beginning to end of indicated period of time", and here you can omit 都, but with it the stress is stronger.

But the first sentence looks weird. Is it really

or

In this case it means: Are you still going to the same school as before?

Anyway

You should also note that it is asking you to reword the sentences using the given word, not insert them into the old sentences.  That is, you don't need to keep all of the words in the old sentences.

For sentence 1, replace 以前 with 原来.

For sentence 2 and 3, replace 都 with 一直.

Discuss any changes in meaning.
