adam2073 Posted July 12, 2015 at 05:05 PM Report Posted July 12, 2015 at 05:05 PM I am considering buying them to improve my Chinese, including my pronunciation. I am a man so I would like to have male speech as a model. I am wondering if the mp3 tracks included use a male. The second thing is whether it is of a good quality, i.e. a standard Mandarin accent. I am interested in the level 2 books (500 words). If you have used Chinese breeze books and seen that they had a male speaker please specify as it may differ between books. The 2 things - Male speaker? - Good quality standard Mandarin accent? Thanks in advance to people in the community Quote
New Members pacemaker Posted July 12, 2015 at 05:24 PM New Members Report Posted July 12, 2015 at 05:24 PM Hi Adam, I have 一张旧画儿 ("An Old Painting", level 2, 500 word level) and can confirm that the speaker on the CD is a male. However, not being a native Chinese speaker, I cannot comment on the quality. Hope this helps! 1 Quote
xiaokaka Posted July 12, 2015 at 06:33 PM Report Posted July 12, 2015 at 06:33 PM All of the books comes with two recordings, one normal and one (artificially) slowed down. They use one male and one female to record, alternating chapters. The accent is very standard and the quality is ok (as good as you will need). 3 Quote
