stvngrant Posted July 12, 2015 at 08:48 PM Report Posted July 12, 2015 at 08:48 PM My friend has a two part Chinese Name. I would like to purchase them a set of two seals to be used together. I would like to use the seals stacked one on top of the other. I have seen that the Yin or Baiwen style seal should be the name that is on top. The Yang or Zhuwen style should be the name on the bottom. The name is in two parts: "brown bear" by the "bright river". "Brown Bear" are these characters: 人熊 "Bright River" are these characters: 明川 My question is, what characters go at the top - the Baiwen style seal. Is it "人熊" or "明川" And then, in what order are they shown? For example: Choice one: top seal in Baiwen style : 熊人 bottom seal in Zhuwen style: 川明 Choice two: top seal in Baiwen style : 人熊 bottom seal in Zhuwen style: 明川 Choice three: top seal in Baiwen style : 明川 bottom seal in Zhuwen style: 人熊 Choice four: top seal in Baiwen style : 川明 bottom seal in Zhuwen style: 熊人 Quote
edelweis Posted July 13, 2015 at 11:29 AM Report Posted July 13, 2015 at 11:29 AM I have never seen such two part seals (but actually I know very little about seals), very interesting, do you have a reference (link, image) or example? Also I have never seen such "two part" Chinese names. Is it a name from a specific ethnic group/nationality of China? Quote
