New Members JonSheph Posted July 21, 2015 at 08:05 PM New Members Report Share Posted July 21, 2015 at 08:05 PM My Chinese teacher gave me a name when I started his course at the beginning of this year, but I really hate it and, as I'm going to be spending a term next year in Beijing, I'm looking for a new one that suits me better. I've come up with a few ideas, but it would be really great if you could tell me if any sound better than the others, or if they all sound terrible. Also, it would be preferable if they aren't easily mispronounced as something bad: 寻 炫珈 金 秋森金 秋林金 秋史史 娟程金 尘炫 Thank you!
陳德聰 Posted July 21, 2015 at 09:41 PM Report Share Posted July 21, 2015 at 09:41 PM Are you trying to have one that sounds like your name in your own language? If so, could you provide that? Why did you pick 寻, 金 and 史?
skylee Posted July 21, 2015 at 09:50 PM Report Share Posted July 21, 2015 at 09:50 PM I like 金秋森, it presents a beautiful picture. If you were born in autumn when the leaves were golden in the forest, why not? And if there were not that many trees, 金秋林 is also good.
New Members JonSheph Posted July 22, 2015 at 06:39 AM Author New Members Report Share Posted July 22, 2015 at 06:39 AM Thank you Skylee! And I'm not exactly going for a name similar to my English one, just the initials – J C S (not not necessarily in that order!) – but I'm flexible if something sounds better. I picked 寻, 金 and 史 because I liked the meanings and they have an 'S' sound like my surname.
陳德聰 Posted July 22, 2015 at 06:58 PM Report Share Posted July 22, 2015 at 06:58 PM 金 does not have a "S" sound unfortunately, but I tend to like the actual sound of 秋森 as well.
anonymoose Posted July 22, 2015 at 07:18 PM Report Share Posted July 22, 2015 at 07:18 PM If you'll study in a university, you may find many Koreans in the same class with similar names.
gaogaozhan Posted July 22, 2015 at 08:47 PM Report Share Posted July 22, 2015 at 08:47 PM 寻 炫珈 is interesting and unique. But you should choose one that you really like. I like funny names more than meaningful names. He he
