thefamousamos93 Posted August 6, 2015 at 03:37 PM Report Posted August 6, 2015 at 03:37 PM Hi guys! I'm currently working on an online registration form for Chinese classes at a Chinese school in the States where I intern. I'm trying to give each question/answer choices their appropriate translations in Chinese, most of which I'm able to handle, but there are a few that I have trouble with coming up with the right wording in Chinese. I'll put some of what I need translated below: - Please click the link below to access the Fall 2015 course schedule. The schedule includes the course names, meeting times, classrooms, teachers, textbooks, and fees for each class. -Please select the course you would like to register for. -Please write down the course code (ex. xxxxxx). You will need this for online payment. -Below are the purposes of orientation: 1. Class placement based on student's age and ability 2.To complete payment (if necessary) 3. Explanation of safety patrol sign up/service deposit refund 4. To answer any additional questions -Would you like to schedule an orientation appointment? I would really, really, really appreciate any help with converting the above into intelligible Chinese fitting for a professional organization haha!! Quote
imron Posted August 6, 2015 at 10:11 PM Report Posted August 6, 2015 at 10:11 PM for a professional organization Professional organizations pay for professional translations. I know you mentioned you're an intern, and you're probably looking to make a good impression on your bosses, but this is really the sort of thing that people pay translators for. 3 Quote

The sentences you asked for help with are not so hard. If you are not able to put them into decent Chinese independently, then I suspect the translations you had done were not up to standard. Your school needs to understand that translation is very specialised work. Better pay a professional translator to get the job done properly, if your school cares about its image. 1 Quote
陳德聰 Posted August 7, 2015 at 10:36 PM Report Posted August 7, 2015 at 10:36 PM Why does a Chinese school need an intern to translate this into Chinese? I am confused, isn't a Chinese school in the States targeting an English speaking audience? I find it odd that a school that... is going to be teaching Chinese... can't find someone to translate these? Perhaps you could provide what you've already done, and even the decent stab at these that you would provide. It's much easier to revise a poor translation than to translate from scratch. Quote
