arreke Posted August 18, 2015 at 06:05 AM Report Posted August 18, 2015 at 06:05 AM To show how the word "生机" is used in the movie "锦绣华南" I modified subtitles, cut the movie clip, and uploaded it to YouTube :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vwUFO9uF-U My problem: Some of the videos received Content ID claim and were blocked in 244 countries, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVt24GLmfVY My question: What should I add to the video to make it fair use ? Any suggestions would be appreciated )) PS: Apparently right now I'm Just Copying rather than Creating Something New : The purpose and character of your intended use of the material involved is the single most important factor in determining whether a use is a fair use. The question to ask here is whether you are merely copying someone else's work verbatim or instead using it to help create something new. Quote

roddy Posted August 18, 2015 at 08:27 AM Report Posted August 18, 2015 at 08:27 AM Really, you need to ask Youtube - they can be pretty arbitrary, and the decisions are probably outsourced, so good luck. There's something in the Glossika topic about them losing a whole load of Youtube content as (if I remember correctly) a competitor reported it. I'd try increasing the amount of non-clip content, and making it obvious (like in the title and the description) it's a 10-second (or whatever) clip. And Iook at Vimeo as an alternative. Quote
