I'm moving to Chongqing to start a Chinese language course in CQ University.

The city doesn't seem to have as many expats as the nearby city of Chengdu but I'd guess we must have at least someone familiar with CQ here. I'd appreciate any information regarding renting apartments in CQ Uni campus A area (shabingba) or just general life advice, or if you're willing to meet in few weeks time when I come there and grab a beer or anything at all.

So, any info or piece of advice regarding the mountain city is appreciated :) Or just general discussion about it. I really don't know much about CQ currently.

Chongqing is hot, hot, hot.  By which I mean weather, food and well, ahem, I'll leave the last one up to you to decide.

While there might not be as many foreigners as in Chengdu, don't let that fool you.  There are a decent number of people around and there's also a fair few tourists as well.  I was there last month in a club in the 观音桥 district and there were a couple of full foreigner tables.

I don't know much about living in Chongqing but I've been there a fair few times and I love it.  I just feel it would be a tiny bit on the crazy/mountainous side for me to live in permanently.  If your Chinese is up to it then you could look at 58.com for apartments, which will at least give you an idea of whats out there.

You could also try the Chongqing University thread.
