StChris Posted August 25, 2015 at 08:01 PM Report Posted August 25, 2015 at 08:01 PM I just watched the CCTV news and there wasn't a single mention of this whole stock market crash. It was a pretty slow news day too, but evidently the editors at CCTV news thought that expensive mooncakes and a flood in Turkey was more relevant to Chinese viewers than their stockmarket tumbling for the second day in a row. I did read after the first big drop last month that China's stockmarket makes up a much smaller proportion of the economy than in most western countries and also that only around 5% of the population have invested, so maybe the perfidious western media are making a mountain out of a molehill in a dastardly attempt to destabilise the government, but still, you would have thought that it was at least worth a passing mention! gato Posted August 25, 2015 at 08:12 PM Report Posted August 25, 2015 at 08:12 PM I don't think the Propanganda Department would approve of that, coming so close to the big military parade and all. 1 Quote
somethingfunny Posted August 26, 2015 at 02:00 AM Report Posted August 26, 2015 at 02:00 AM Wait. Expensive moon cakes? That sounds like a story that needs more coverage. Like on a yearly basis. Quote
GuizhouMike Posted September 7, 2015 at 03:47 AM Report Posted September 7, 2015 at 03:47 AM Conveniently there was this big military parade to change the topic and distract and show the strengh of chinin another way, than economically http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/02/world/asia/as-economy-falters-military-parade-offers-chance-to-burnish-chinas-image.html?_r=0 Quote
