How to Say: "There were many people inside ... "

Hello,

I am working on some homework. I am unsure of the sentence structure if you want to say something like: "There are many people inside the restaurant" or "There are many people in the classroom".

I think I could say something like: 饭馆 有 很 多 人。

But I vaguely remember using 进 to specify "inside". 
Any help?

You would put 裡, 裡面，裡邊，or 裡頭 after the place, not 進.

So to say, "There are many people inside the restaurant," you could say:

飯館裡有很多人。

To say "There are many people inside the classroom," it would be:

教室裡有很多人。

Or 饭馆里（的）人很多。

进 is about entering, the process of going inside.

Or less frequent 有很多人在饭馆里(头)，but this is colloquial and is used when you wanna emphasize people are many

Not to my knowledge, I use the IME in windows 7, works well.
