I was looking at edX to see if they were offering the intermediate Chinese course on grammar, but nothing posted. They are offering Chinese Language: Learn Basic Mandarin, which starts September 28th if any one is interested.

You can do the Mandarin course as below.

that Basic Mandarin Level One will re-run as a self-paced course on Sep 28.

Self-paced means there is no certificate available and not all features may be available.

Level 2 is supposed to start "before December"

You can usually do previous courses as self-paced.

Here is the link https://www.edx.org/course/intermediate-chinese-grammar-zhong-ji-yi-pekingx-20000001x-0

You may be able to do this as a self-paced course.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks for the heads up Bobbi.

I've watched the first two videos so far and it looks quite promising as Shelley's earlier discussion of the class indicated. There are a few words I've had to look up (产生,规律), but it appears to be about at my level. I think some of it may end up being review, but since I've only worked more intensively on grammar the past 6 months or so it should help me reinforce some of the topics I've worked on with tutors.

Has anyone used the supplementary textbook 中级汉语语法讲义, while taking the course? Has it been worthwhile? It looks like Taobao has it for only 35 RMB or so.

I think that because it is self paced there are no deadlines but please double check this by asking on your course discussion board or contacting the course lecturer by email.

Only when a course is "live" or "current" do deadlines exist and you can get certificates.

There are self paced and archived courses that you start any time usually so there can't be deadlines.

But as I said Please Double Check this, have a look at the edX FAQs .
