Study Chinese in China

Hej guys,

 

I was wondering if there are some universitary institutes of languages which offer Chinese studies programmes and if yes, which one you would suggest. I have in mind Korean universities which offer such programmes and these are very structured, each with a reputation and so on. I would also like to have an estimation of living costs in China, since I want to set up a plan to go study there and make an estimation of how much it would cost me.

Yes, there are such programs, only there are many, and with different prices and reputations, from lower ranked provincial universities (inexpensive), to BLCU (well known, somewhat expensive), Beijing Daxue, some Normal universities, up to CET or IUP (very expensive but apparently very good).

There are also programs in Taiwan.

 

Do you need just a language course, or do you want to get a university degree too?

Many thanks for that link. I have been thinking about studying Korean in South Korea for a semester or so. That link points me in the right direction.

 

Here are a few links to get you started to get some ideas. Firstly, you can look around the CUCAS site: just type in some names of some universities to get a sense about programs, facts and figures, etc.

Another site to check out is from the China Scholarship Council ("Study in China"). Again, it is just a matter of looking around the site and typing in names of universities to get some ideas about programs and facts and figures. You should be able to get website listings for the universities' language programs from this.

A good first step could be to decide in which region/province/city in China you may like to study and then look at possible programs in your desired areas: North? Northeast? South? Southwest? Going beyond the first-tier cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen)? Heading to "off the beaten path" provinces and areas (Guizhou, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang)? It's all your oyster...to mangle that old cliche.

Hej guys, thanks for your replies I will first think about what you said and then come back if needed. I dont need a degree, I just want to be fluent in Chinese and I want this environment to learn, I think it is the most efficient for me.

 

 

Chris, if you want to study Korean in Korea, consider those: Yonsei, SNU, Sungkyunkwan, Sogang, EWHA. I think Yonsei would be the best but it really depends on what you want, each uni I told you has a very good reputation.

Concerning Japan, I have no idea, Im not really into Japanese

I have tried to check but I am still a bit lost. I cant really find some kind of programme like I've seen in Korea. I dont care where to study (Mainland, preferably a good city but then Idc). If someone has some experience or tip, please tell me x)

I am not sure what are the specifics of those Korean programs, anyway here are a few links:

I just couldnt find some stuff like this, I might be a bit stupid. CEt and IUP fees are just insane ! BLCU are BNU seem to be good programmes, dont they ? This is something like this that Im looking for

Yes, CET and IUP are very expensive but they have smaller classes including 1 to 1 classes. These are American intensive programs in China.

 

 

Generally Chinese for foreigners programs in Chinese university are group classes with 20 hours per week.

About CUCAS: it's a private business, but their portal has a lot of information about different Chinese programs in lots of universities and some private schools.

You can browse it for information about fees etc.

If you want you can pay them to help you with the application process, but you can also contact the universities directly after looking them up on CUCAS...
