Google Pinyin always crashes

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I use Google Pinyin for typing traditional Chinese and MS Pinyin for typing simplified.

Google Pinyin has a tendency to crash at least once a day. Even though I always send an error report when prompted to do so the situation still hasn't improved. Does this happen to anyone else?

If this keeps happening I'll have to use another IME. Can anyone recommend an alternative? I love Google Pinyin because of its simplicity so I'd like to find something similar (if not better).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I've never had any problems with it crashing on either Windows 7 or Windows 8. It will probably help people to help you if you mention what OS you're using.

I used Google pinyin in Windows 8.1 and on Windows 10 without any problems.

Can you give more details?

I have not have any problems with it either. Maybe you could try 搜狗 pinyin (pinyin.sogou.com) I use that on my mobile.

Use sogou pinyin input method

Don't use Sogou unless you want popup ads appearing on your desktop all the time.

No updates since 2013, I note, and they only say it supports Win 8. That said I use it fine in Windows 10, bar some bizarre bug when writing a comment in a Word doc where it just goes off and types by itself.

Does it produce anything sensible?
