andycmda Posted June 20, 2005 at 03:26 PM Report Posted June 20, 2005 at 03:26 PM This map shows the vast territory of early Tang dynasty, which includes Mongolia, several former Soviet republics, parts of Siberia, Afghanistan, most of Korea and Vietnam, but does not include the northern Manchuria. http://cls.admin.yzu.edu.tw/TSMAP/GIF/TA1.JPG This map shows the territory in year 741, when Tang dynasty reached the height of its power and wealth. http://cls.admin.yzu.edu.tw/TSMAP/GIF/TA2.JPG This map shows the reduced Tang dynasty after the An rebellion, much smaller than before. http://cls.admin.yzu.edu.tw/TSMAP/GIF/TA3.JPG This is Northern Song dynasty, notice Beijing was not under Song control http://cls.admin.yzu.edu.tw/TSMAP/GIF/NSU1.JPG Quote
peeyuwu Posted July 2, 2005 at 07:25 PM Report Posted July 2, 2005 at 07:25 PM July 2, 2005 Dear AndyCmda: Thanks for these interesting maps. How "authentic" are they, since they differ somewhat from maps I've seen posted elsewhere (Your maps on the greatest expansion of Tang trumps all other maps by quite a bit)? It would be interesting to see where Talas River is. I've tried finding it on present day maps but no luck. P5 Quote
Sophia_Shang Posted January 25, 2006 at 05:16 AM Report Posted January 25, 2006 at 05:16 AM In fact, China got it's largest territory under control in the Yuan Dynasty, just after Song Dynasty. Quote
