Yoyo Szeto Posted June 20, 2005 at 04:05 PM Report Posted June 20, 2005 at 04:05 PM Hi All, I have watched "Suzhou River, 蘇州河" recently. I find the story and photography very good. They are also not the mainstream type. Is the film still banned in China? Do you guys like the film? yoyo Quote
wushijiao Posted June 20, 2005 at 11:24 PM Report Posted June 20, 2005 at 11:24 PM I saw this a while back. It was interesting in that it portrayed a part of Shanghai and a life in Shanghai that I think many laowais miss out on. The young Zhou Xun (Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress) is also good in this movie. However, I do remember thinking it tried to be a bit too Wong Karwai-ish. Quote

Hi Mr Wu, Thanks for sharing your view. I also like the music in the movie. By the way, do you know the song which a girl sings in the middle of the film? I have been trying to find the answer but am not lucky so far. yoyo Quote
Yang Rui Posted June 26, 2005 at 06:00 PM Report Posted June 26, 2005 at 06:00 PM The song in the middle of the film is called 解脱 (jietuo) and it was originally sung by 张惠妹 Zhang Huimei (A-mei) although i believe it has been covered since. Quote
