Kamille Posted October 28, 2015 at 03:19 AM Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 at 03:19 AM It's a magic ritual in honor of the gods... Nah just kidding. It's too blurry and I can't can't make out the last three characters (even the second one I'm just guessing) but given the spot I can tell you if it doesn't say "made in China" or anything of the kind I'll wear my t-shirt inside-out during a whole day. Shelley Posted October 28, 2015 at 11:33 AM Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 at 11:33 AM I have lots of this china, its is quite common. I think its very pretty. I have some of it in pink, green, yellow and it also comes in a dark blue but I have never seen any of it. it does say Made in China and a model number on the bottom of each piece. The characters are: 夀 - shou - long life 無 wu - nothing (but I don't think this is its only meaning but I can't find any others) 疆 jiang - border, boundry (again this may have another meaning) 萬 wan - ten thousand. Here are some pictures (not the best quality, took them in a rush, but you can get the idea) of my 4 character china, this is one name I have heard for this or longevity ware.
Shelley Posted October 28, 2015 at 12:33 PM Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 at 12:33 PM P.S. Usually this type of cup/mug has a lid, do you have a lid?
Kamille Posted October 28, 2015 at 12:34 PM Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 at 12:34 PM Oh these characters. The first miniature picture was so small I didn't even take it into account, but once brought back to it's original size, we can indeed see a 夀 and a 萬 http://postimg.org/image/l7sk32xq5
Lu Posted October 28, 2015 at 12:34 PM Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 at 12:34 PM I have a few cups resembling this and always thought they said 万寿无疆, 'ten thousand long life without boundary', or in other words, eternal life.

edelweis Posted October 28, 2015 at 06:05 PM Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 at 06:05 PM The manufacturing place seems to be 景德镇 from Shelley's picture.
Shelley Posted October 28, 2015 at 08:45 PM Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 at 08:45 PM It is famous for porcelain, I think though most of this style is made for export , but it would be interesting to know if its used in China,
