Shuchun Sun Posted November 15, 2015 at 07:55 AM Report Posted November 15, 2015 at 07:55 AM Hi, guys, I am making a new Chinese learning series. I wish to make this series interesting. This is only the first introductory video and I really need your suggestions. The link is: https://youtu.be/DQFYVSxKJz8 Quote
Flickserve Posted November 15, 2015 at 12:16 PM Report Posted November 15, 2015 at 12:16 PM Define your target audience. You might want to get ideas from short video clips that go viral. If a few ten or hundred thousand people find those clips interesting, they might possibly make good topics for teaching. Compare that to Chinese philosophy or Chinese paintings which are for intermediate to advanced learners but crucially, have no practical use in normal daily life. Something interesting to you is not necessarily interesting for other people. Quote
Shelley Posted November 15, 2015 at 02:08 PM Report Posted November 15, 2015 at 02:08 PM I think using beautiful chinese art, philosophy and food is completely at odds with a man sitting on the toilet and the idea that you would watch these videos while sat on the toilet. i understand you are trying to say that you can use the spare 10 minutes here and there to learn chinese, but you could do it without the toilet reference, maybe while sitting on the bus on the way to work or waiting for a train, there are quite a few other options. This of course is only my opinion. I like the idea of using chinese art and philosophy to learn chinese, but as Flickserve said it has no practical use in the real world, as beginners course you would need to deal with basic boring ni hao's and teach useful chinese. I also wonder how you are going to make yourself standout, if you just look at the other videos available down the right hand side of the screen there seemed to be lots of "have fun learning chinese" style videos available. You need to find something to make yourself different. Stop, think and figure out a way to get noticed and who these videos are for. 1 Quote
