I'm trying to get my first tattoo in chinese and im getting it on my right arm from top to bottom vertically. The text "Family First" is what I want but i'm not sure which is better. Traditonal or simplified? I got this from google translate: 永不放棄 . Is this correct when read in Chinese?

Well, from what I can tell, 優先 means priority. And it is most often associated with 家庭 in the reverse order 優先家庭 as "priority household" i.e. a family which should get dibs on something other families are competing for (kindergarten space, being able to buy a house etc).

So I'm not too confident that "家庭優先" means what you want. But I'm not a native Chinese speaker anyway.

(If I wanted such a tattoo I'd search for a Chinese idiom or proverb that I like, not attempt to translate from English...)

Are you aware of the prejudices against tattoos in China and Japan?

I mean you won't get thrown in jail for having them but potential in-laws might not be terribly happy about a tattooed son-in-law.
