中文新手 Posted June 25, 2005 at 10:34 PM Report Posted June 25, 2005 at 10:34 PM I'm hoping someone can direct me to some web links or other info sources about a famous Chinese actress from the 1930's and 40's. Her name was "Wu HuDie" (吴蝴蝶) or Butterfly Wu. I haven't uncovered much through a Google search so I thought maybe by posting it in the forums, someone would be familiar with her acting career in China and possibly some other sources of information. 多谢! skylee Posted June 26, 2005 at 12:13 AM Report Posted June 26, 2005 at 12:13 AM Did you mean 胡蝶? (The name is pronounced Hu Die in Mandarin, and Wu Dip in Cantonese, and in both cases it is a homophone of butterfly.) Take a look -> 胡蝶 影后胡蝶 電影皇后-胡蝶 讓戴笠情迷一生的女人 胡蝶當選影后始末 Quote

中文新手 Posted June 26, 2005 at 02:09 AM Author Report Posted June 26, 2005 at 02:09 AM Many thanks, Skylee! Those were excellent links. Finally! I have some information on this actress. I have one of her movie posters and wanted to know more about her. I've saved the links. And boy was I way off on the correct Chinese characters for 'Butterfly'! Quote
skylee Posted June 26, 2005 at 02:20 AM Report Posted June 26, 2005 at 02:20 AM And boy was I way off on the correct Chinese characters for 'Butterfly'! You were correct about the characters for "butterfly" (i.e. 蝴蝶). It is just not that actress's name. Quote
