你们都好吗?

What is the specific translation of "就是” and how exactly does it differ from “只是”? I know this question as somewhat been asked before but it was in terms of 就 and 只 without the added 是's. I always felt that "就是” meant "just" and "只是" meant only. Is there any difference without the added 是's? Or does it just mean "just is" and "only is"?

Another question: How do I say something like "I am just looking" (i.e. you are in a store and they ask you if you need help or if you want to buy something and you say...)? I would think it would be “我就是看看。” Is this correct?

Another question, unrelated: how do I say "about" or "regarding" (i.e. I have a question about this)?

Thank you for all your help.

no 就是 does not mean just, 只 means both only and just(or 刚).

I m just looking. -- 我只是(随便)看看。

就是 is tricky, I think it has a few meanings:

1. shorten form of 就算是:就是你我也不在乎。 meaning:even/even though

2. emphasizing "is": 你要找的人就是我。IT IS ME who you are looking for.

3. "I like it I do it this way": 我就是喜欢。我就是要去。

4. "I knew it": 我就(是)知道你不会来。

there may be more, but as with all grammar, it's hard to explain...

Hi, here's my take on it.....

就是 its like an agreement with a statement made in conversation...example

"今天好冷啊"!! "就是"

"its very cold today" "yes it sure is"

I noticed people use this a lot when I was in Yu Nan and Xi Zhang provinces.

只 is like "only" or "just“. you dont hear it so much with 是。 More often with 有。For example: "还有别人吗"?"没有,只有我" "is there anybody else?" "no, only me"

I hope this is helpful.

I don't understand this well enough to offer a suggestion, but my dictionary says:

表示某種確定的範圍,排斥其他,相當於 僅, 只是

And here's the example sentence:

大家都來了,就是小林還沒有來

My translation: everyone came, only xiaolin didn't come.

別的她都忘了,就是想起了這件事

My translation: The rest she forgot, she only remembered this matter.

In the following sentence, just means "precisely."

That's just what I wanted!

這個就是我想要的! bad translation?

這個剛好是我想要的! better?

I don't think there's a need for 個 here.

Oh,no! The expression"这个就是我想要的“is more common than"这个刚好是我想要的".

I don't think there's a need for 個 here.

Alright,we always omit 个 in the phrase, but I should say with 个 and without 个is also right!!!
