sangajtam Posted December 21, 2015 at 07:00 AM Report Posted December 21, 2015 at 07:00 AM Is there any tool that will show me, when i paste some Chinese text, what is text difficulty and if its suitable for beginner or for intermediate or advanced? Quote
imron Posted December 21, 2015 at 07:29 AM Report Posted December 21, 2015 at 07:29 AM I wrote a tool called Chinese Text Analyser that does something similar. You open a file with some Chinese text (or paste from the clipboard) and it will analyse the text and tell you what percentage of the text you will be able to understand based on your current vocabulary level. You are responsible for marking words as known/unknown, or you can import lists of words from a flashcard program. The more you use it, the more accurate a model the program will have of your vocabulary. You can also use it to export word lists, e.g. the 20 unknown words, ordered by frequency in the document, for use in flashcard programs. There is a discussion thread here with more information. 4 Quote

yifeng Posted December 23, 2015 at 02:53 AM Report Posted December 23, 2015 at 02:53 AM Try using Smart Chinese Reader 2.0. An introduction is in the topic Smart Chinese Reader 2.0 . In the Advanced view of this software, the number of words at each HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) level is figured out respectively. This indicates the difficulty of a text exactly. If a text contains more words at lower HSK levels and fewer words at higher HSK levels, it is easy, and difficult vice versa. Further more, the Advanced view differentiates HSK levels of words in the text with colors, and let learners plan their studies easily. In a text, you could learn words of lower HSK levels first, and then move to higher HSK levels. 1 Quote
