Xiao Kui Posted June 29, 2005 at 09:12 PM Report Posted June 29, 2005 at 09:12 PM I want to recommend the series 淘气包马小跳 by 杨红樱 I bought these kids' books not knowing much about them but I was not disappointed. These are pretty relaxing but feature new vocab as well as commonly used dialogue: Easy enough to enjoy, hard enough to learn sth. new. These are basically novels for grade school kids and they really remind me of the books "Superfudge" and "Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing" by Judy Blume. The star is 马小跳, a little Dennis the Menace type kid who's always getting in trouble. They are pretty funny, at times even off-beat and lol. They're available inside mainland China (don't know abt. elsewhere ) at just about any bookstore in the children's section for 13 yuan each. Here is what they look like in case you're interested: http://kid.sina.com.cn/maxiaotiao/ Been lookin' for a way to download the texts free from the web but no luck so far. 1 Quote
smalltownfart Posted July 5, 2005 at 05:44 PM Report Posted July 5, 2005 at 05:44 PM Have you ever shopped at www.dangdang.com? I have been chking this site quite a bit recently, it is kinda slow, but the selection is surprisingly vast, and unbelievably diverse. Does anyone here have any experience with the site? They have big discounts on nearly everything - the 淘气包马小跳 books u mentioned are priced at 9.10 yuan, discounted from 13. http://211.100.16.156/dangdang.dll?key=%CC%D4%C6%F8%B0%FC%C2%ED%D0%A1%CC%F8&mode=1050 Shipping overseas is relatively high, in relation to the price, but in comparison to overseas prices, it is still dirt cheap. If you have friends or relatives in china, especially in the main cities, shipping costs next to nothing. Quote
