New Members Bradley芒果 Posted January 1, 2016 at 09:35 PM New Members Report Posted January 1, 2016 at 09:35 PM 你好。I'm new to this forum so I might not be posting in the right section. Anyways, I am self-studying mandarin Chinese and I have found lots of resources that seem helpful. After weeks of uncertainty, I decided to start getting most of my vocabulary from the HSK lists and that's working well for me so far. However, I am less sure about a good primary source to teach grammar. I already know about Chinese Grammar Wiki, but my only concern with that is that it gives you all the grammar points at once and forces you to decide which ones you want to decide. I'm looking for something more structured. Suggestions? 谢谢! (If it's important, I'm learning simplified characters and pinyin) Quote
lechuan Posted January 4, 2016 at 05:15 AM Report Posted January 4, 2016 at 05:15 AM Have you used the Chinese Grammar Wiki's Grammar points by level page? Quote
歐博思 Posted January 15, 2016 at 09:43 PM Report Posted January 15, 2016 at 09:43 PM It's not really structured in some way for a beginner, but the information is too good to not mention here. "Chinese: A Comprehensive Grammar" by Yip Po Ching and Don Rimmington has been my go-to Chinese grammar book for a while now. Quote
Shelley Posted January 15, 2016 at 10:58 PM Report Posted January 15, 2016 at 10:58 PM There are 2 books that I use, Modern Mandarin Chinese Grammar by Claudia Ross and Jing-heng Sheng Ma and Schaum’s Outline of Chinese Grammar by Claudia Ross. As you can see Claudia Ross is one of the authors of MMCG and the author of SOCG. They both have work books with answer keys so its very good for self studying. I did a review of both of them here at post #84 :- http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/46180-intermediate-chinese-grammar-online-edx-course/page-5 The topic is about a grammar course from edx, that might be of interest to you, you can still do it but not take the exams. Another edx course starts on January the 18th see here http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/50261-edx-basic-mandarin-chinese-course-level-2-starting/ And if all this doesn't overwhelm, you have a look at my blog for more info about what I use to study with (I am a self studier) http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/blog/108-my-chinese-learning-blog/ Hope this helps Quote
