You got it, except that 裂地拳 is probably the name of a style of fist fighting, and not literally using his fist to split the ground.  The sentence wouldn't be written that way if it was so.

I think leftzones's translation is correct. Literally 地裂拳 is ground-spliting fist. It's a novel, not real life martial art fighting, so 'use his fist to split the ground' works as well.  He is going to attack 巴图鲁 from the distance by spliting the ground.

I agree with lips. 裂地拳 is the name of a move/style, not necessarily a literal description of the action. It's not clear in the excerpt if 裂地拳 actually cracks open the earth, or if it is some attack that is powerful enough to split the earth open, or is some attack that transmits force through the earth/air, etc. I think "ground-splitting fist" (or maybe something more interpretive like "fissure punch") is a better translation than "use his fist to split the ground".

lips is right, and "裂地" is before "拳" you can see it as a decoration of fist. This move has power to split the ground, but not everytime do the same thing.
