Turkish embassy's number10) Where did you get your physical done? Private hospital11) How did you get your documents notarized? I didn't need to since everything was already in English12) Were you accepted for the scholarship, if you were not then why? Hell yeah!13) How were you notified? Constantly called the guy at ministry and then finally got a confirmation email from him14) When were you accepted/rejected? Got the email on July 27th, got the documents on July 30th15) What school and program were you accepted to? 4 year bachelor degree in Chinese language, BLCU Though, I was going to book my flight today but while providing the document info I was asked to type either "passenger passport number" or "passport card number". The thing is we just call it a "passport" here so I have no idea what these two terms even mean. I have one of those regular mini-booklet type passports with around 60 pages. Should I pick "passenger passport" and then type my passport's number? Also, does anyone know any way to secure a room in Dorm 4? I sent an email to the dorm office but I haven't got a reply, which isn't a surprise as far as I read on this forum. Can anyone help me with that or would it be still possible to find a room there on August 31st, aka the day I will arrive in Beijing? 2
Cantabile Posted August 1, 2016 at 08:07 PM Report Posted August 1, 2016 at 08:07 PM As far as I know I terms of dorms, they are already reserved for csc recipients.
grawrt Posted August 1, 2016 at 09:14 PM Report Posted August 1, 2016 at 09:14 PM @haerviu did you try emailing any of the emails from here: http://english.blcu.edu.cn/col/col259/index.html ? I don't think it should be a problem to book but I'm not sure since I just went with the free dorms provided when I got there (For me Dorm 9)
Chris Two Times Posted August 1, 2016 at 09:39 PM Author Report Posted August 1, 2016 at 09:39 PM Wow! The good news is piling in now! Excellent! 108 pages now. @Breaknet Good news! Your trials and tribulations are over. It is good to see that you have gained a spot. @U.S. applicants This afternoon I received an email from Chen Li of the Chinese Consulate in Washington, DC. She indicated that she has received the paperwork from Beijing and has sent it out to us. She noted: "I sent them out to each of you through UPS mail just now. They should arrive in 1-5 days". So we've got that going for us...which is nice. Warm regards, Chris Two Times 1

trocadero Posted August 2, 2016 at 05:44 AM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 05:44 AM Well, I finally got some non-news from the China Embassy in my country today. The Education Secretary from the China Embassy explained that the delay in our country is due to a change in process this year as all the applications have been transferred to the Confucius Institute for review (even if they're not applying for a CIS?!) He referred me to a contact person at Confucius Institute and said that in the future, all scholarship enquiries should go to Confucius Institute. Then I called the Confucius Institute contact, the lady is helpful but doesn't know any more information than I do. She only knows about the CIS program and said that the selection hasn't taken place yet and so the results will probably be available in September. SEPTEMBER???!!! Anyway she mentioned that the Deputy Director may have received some files from the China Embassy so I should send him an email to see if he knows anything about my file. I sent him an email. So currently, my file may or may not be sitting somewhere between the China Embassy and the Confucius Institute, and I'm pretty sure my intended University (Tsinghua) never even received it. Selection may or may not happen for me in September, at which point I would have already been in China for a month. Urgh. I've booked my ticket to Beijing and got my visa as a self-funded student. Giving up on my CSC.
Torreno Posted August 2, 2016 at 06:02 AM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 06:02 AM Thats sad to hear. I am feeling that I am coming as a self fund student too for this language year because of the lack of communication from my university. Going to wait 8~ days and apply myself
electrophile Posted August 2, 2016 at 06:17 AM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 06:17 AM @trocadero Hey at least you've got your admission package already, so you were able to apply for a visa! I also applied for the CSC scholarship through the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia with a pre-admission letter from Tsinghua. The uni told me on July 6th that I've been given the scholarship and that I should contact the Embassy to get my admission package. I called up the Embassy but they said that the results will be announced at the end of July. I gave them another call yesterday but they just said that the scholarship recipients will be contacted by phone or email, or they might send the documents to us directly. I'm here hoping that the Embassy is just taking things easy and that they will notify me eventually. But if my scholarship were somehow canceled, then my schedule would really be messed up. I think offices at Tsinghua are still closed for the summer holiday? So I'm not sure if they would be able to send me my admission package in time. I may not even be able to study there at all, not even as a self-funded student! Are there any other Indonesian students applying for the scholarship through the Embassy? Has the Embassy contacted you at all? Have you tried ringing them up?
Hiwot Posted August 2, 2016 at 06:39 AM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 06:39 AM Any news from mofcom applicants?
BENDEE Posted August 2, 2016 at 08:10 AM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 08:10 AM @ Hiwot still no news yet when I went to the Chinese consulate here in Zanzibar the Lady in charge told me to expect result starting from mid August and on wards!
Hiwot Posted August 2, 2016 at 08:27 AM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 08:27 AM @BENDEE Mid August?? GOD!I hope there will be good news at the end. The waiting is killing me.
trocadero Posted August 2, 2016 at 10:11 AM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 10:11 AM @Torreno, it's pretty frustrating. I hope that your result will be better than mine. @electrophile, I suppose though I'm not so sure that the university sending me the admission package already is a good thing as they've designated me as a self funded student right from the get go. Oh well, at least I know which university I'll be going to.
daren2503 Posted August 2, 2016 at 10:55 AM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 10:55 AM @Vanya: Hello.. Yeah I did receive my admission notice from Dongbei University on the 29th July.. i will be starting my major there in September 2017.. Have u received yours ?
Torreno Posted August 2, 2016 at 12:31 PM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 12:31 PM Its also bad that they leave us no room to move with those late results. My B way has a 15 august deadline. So its either we will be fast enough to apply somewhere else or not going at all this year.
ParisParis Posted August 2, 2016 at 01:55 PM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 01:55 PM @ EU window applicants: Have received my documents from Brussels today ;-) Can somebody tell me whats happening next? Just doing the registration at the university?
Danteveli Posted August 2, 2016 at 02:55 PM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 02:55 PM @ParisParis If its just like in previous years you don't have to register at the university. there should be Admission Notice in the papers EU sent you. You have to apply for Visa and you may want to contact the university about the day that registration starts there, accommodation and pickup. At least it was like that for me when I was on CSC scholarship from EU.
daren2503 Posted August 2, 2016 at 03:07 PM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 03:07 PM @ ELIJAH and @ Chris Two Times: Hello My Friends, First of all thank you for your help for the Scholarships students. I got my admission to Dongbei University for my bachelor degree in Tourism Management as a CSC student on the 29th July but as my chinese language is very poor, they have decided to send me for one year first in Beijing Language Culture University to learn Chinese (that is from Sep 2016 to Jul 2017). My course in Tourism in Dongbei will start as from Sep 2017 till Jul 2021. The problem I am having with my admission notice is that I did apply for the Bachelor Degree in Tourism Management (ENGLISH Program) but upon receiving the admission notice from Dongbei yesterday, they did write Bachelor Degree in Tourism Management (CHINESE Program). That situation is stressing me so much before I can come to China as I don't know if in one year i will be able to assimilate the Chinese Language and after that start my Major Course (Tourism Management) at Dongbei in Chinese. Can you please help me to know if it's possible to change the Major course from Chinese Program to English Program ? I thank you in advance for your reponse and help Regards Darren (Mauritius Island)
BanjoSlice Posted August 2, 2016 at 03:13 PM Report Posted August 2, 2016 at 03:13 PM Unfortunately I wasn't successful this year. I called someone at the Embassy who told me my name was not on the list. However, I would love to know how to apply next year for the scholarship MBBS without going through the embassy. Please am a prospective undergrad for MBBS thank you for your reply in advance
