Though, I was going to book my flight today but while providing the document info I was asked to type either "passenger passport number" or "passport card number". The thing is we just call it a "passport" here so I have no idea what these two terms even mean. I have one of those regular mini-booklet type passports with around 60 pages. Should I pick "passenger passport" and then type my passport's number?

Also, does anyone know any way to secure a room in Dorm 4? I sent an email to the dorm office but I haven't got a reply, which isn't a surprise as far as I read on this forum. Can anyone help me with that or would it be still possible to find a room there on August 31st, aka the day I will arrive in Beijing?

Wow! The good news is piling in now! Excellent! 108 pages now.

@Breaknet

Good news! Your trials and tribulations are over. It is good to see that you have gained a spot.

@U.S. applicants

This afternoon I received an email from Chen Li of the Chinese Consulate in Washington, DC. She indicated that she has received the paperwork from Beijing and has sent it out to us. She noted: "I sent them out to each of you through UPS mail just now. They should arrive in 1-5 days".

So we've got that going for us...which is nice.

Warm regards,

Well, I finally got some non-news from the China Embassy in my country today. The Education Secretary from the China Embassy explained that the delay in our country is due to a change in process this year as all the applications have been transferred to the Confucius Institute for review (even if they're not applying for a CIS?!) He referred me to a contact person at Confucius Institute and said that in the future, all scholarship enquiries should go to Confucius Institute.

Then I called the Confucius Institute contact, the lady is helpful but doesn't know any more information than I do. She only knows about the CIS program and said that the selection hasn't taken place yet and so the results will probably be available in September. SEPTEMBER???!!! Anyway she mentioned that the Deputy Director may have received some files from the China Embassy so I should send him an email to see if he knows anything about my file.

I sent him an email. So currently, my file may or may not be sitting somewhere between the China Embassy and the Confucius Institute, and I'm pretty sure my intended University (Tsinghua) never even received it. Selection may or may not happen for me in September, at which point I would have already been in China for a month.

Urgh. I've booked my ticket to Beijing and got my visa as a self-funded student. Giving up on my CSC.

Thats sad to hear. I am feeling that I am coming as a self fund student too for this language year because of the lack of communication from my university. Going to wait 8~ days and apply myself :(

@trocadero Hey at least you've got your admission package already, so you were able to apply for a visa! I also applied for the CSC scholarship through the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia with a pre-admission letter from Tsinghua. The uni told me on July 6th that I've been given the scholarship and that I should contact the Embassy to get my admission package. I called up the Embassy but they said that the results will be announced at the end of July. I gave them another call yesterday but they just said that the scholarship recipients will be contacted by phone or email, or they might send the documents to us directly. I'm here hoping that the Embassy is just taking things easy and that they will notify me eventually. But if my scholarship were somehow canceled, then my schedule would really be messed up. I think offices at Tsinghua are still closed for the summer holiday? So I'm not sure if they would be able to send me my admission package in time. I may not even be able to study there at all, not even as a self-funded student!

Are there any other Indonesian students applying for the scholarship through the Embassy? Has the Embassy contacted you at all? Have you tried ringing them up?

@ Hiwot still no news yet when I went to the Chinese consulate here in Zanzibar the Lady in charge told me to expect result starting from mid August and on wards!

Posted

@Torreno, it's pretty frustrating. I hope that your result will be better than mine.

@electrophile, I suppose though I'm not so sure that the university sending me the admission package already is a good thing as they've designated me as a self funded student right from the get go. Oh well, at least I know which university I'll be going to.

@Vanya: Hello.. Yeah I did receive my admission notice from Dongbei University on the 29th July.. i will be starting my major there in September 2017.. Have u received yours ?

Posted

Its also bad that they leave us no room to move with those late results. My B way has a 15 august deadline. So its either we will be fast enough to apply somewhere else or not going at all this year.

@ EU window applicants:

Have received my documents from Brussels today ;-)

Can somebody tell me whats happening next? Just doing the registration at the university?

Posted

@ParisParis

If its just like in previous years you don't have to register at the university. there should be Admission Notice in the papers EU sent you. You have to apply for Visa and you may want to contact the university about the day that registration starts there,  accommodation and pickup.  At least it was like that for me  when I was on CSC scholarship from EU.

@ ELIJAH and @ Chris Two Times:

Hello My Friends,

First of all thank you for your help for the Scholarships students.

I got my admission to Dongbei University for my bachelor degree in Tourism Management as a CSC student on the 29th July but as my chinese language is very poor, they have decided to send me for one year first in Beijing Language Culture University to learn Chinese (that is from Sep 2016 to Jul 2017). My course in Tourism in Dongbei will start as from Sep 2017 till Jul 2021.

The problem I am having with my admission notice is that I did apply for the Bachelor Degree in Tourism Management (ENGLISH Program) but upon receiving the admission notice from Dongbei yesterday, they did write Bachelor Degree in Tourism Management (CHINESE Program).

That situation is stressing me so much before I can come to China as I don't know if in one year i will be able to assimilate the Chinese Language and after that start my Major Course (Tourism Management) at Dongbei in Chinese.

Can you please help me to know if it's possible to change the Major course from Chinese Program to English Program ?

I thank you in advance for your reponse and help

Regards
