New Members bylom Posted July 18, 2016 at 11:41 AM New Members Report Share Posted July 18, 2016 at 11:41 AM Hi people, Though not having much faith in my application, I'm waiting at the moment for the EU-China Government scholarship announcement. This should supposedly have been announced last Friday (July 15th) just like last year (though officially it is stated as mid-July), but alas, no results on that day. Today seems without much luck (as of yet) as well. Does anybody know how long it might take? Mid-July can mean an awful lot of things. Also, I'm currently in China till July 22nd and will not return in case I don't get the scholarship. If I would get the scholarship after all, I can still leave alot of my stuff here. Otherwise it's gonna be a logistics nightmare... Thanks for taking the time to read that! Matthijs

Alex_Hart Posted July 18, 2016 at 02:28 PM Report Share Posted July 18, 2016 at 02:28 PM Sorry for the delay - drove to DC for the weekend! Congratulations to Elijah and everybody else who has recently been accepted! It seems many of us are on our ways to a great adventure in the Middle Kingdom! @hannafit: Thanks for the reminder! And wow, I wish I could wake up one day speaking Chinese. Hopefully an immersive environment plus study time helps! I'll try to work hard this next month so that I don't fall completely behind I have just received my application documents in the mail and I received a full scholarship for the next three years. The visa form (at least for Americans) requires us to go to our local embassy and apply. I've also been told that all applicants to Hangzhou can definitely not enter prior to September 8th - not sure if there is anyone in the forums besides Hanna and I who will be there, but a warning to any who intend to go to ZheDa or any other schools in the city! Has anybody been told what their stipend will be?

Anyway, today I called the Embassy and they told me that they called MOFCOM last week and there are not results yet, and also they don't know when to expect the results. ELIJAH Posted July 18, 2016 at 06:58 PM Report Share Posted July 18, 2016 at 06:58 PM @Alex_Hart Thanks so much for congratulating me and for your very valuable inputs. You were part of my success. I think stipend is 3000 Yuan for M.Sc. and 3500 for PhD. @Rebel Surely, schools are on break but offices are not completely shut. They work but not for the length of normal day's work. I am confident that your documents are on the way. You will soon tell us that you have got them. You need to ensure that your phone is on, peradventure they like to contact you via phone. It is only natural for them to forward the documents to you as soon as they got them. I have courier tracking number with which I am tracking my documents. My documents are already in Nigeria, my country. I look forward to receiving them possibly tomorrow.
