Jonathan00 Posted January 19, 2016 at 10:28 PM Report Posted January 19, 2016 at 10:28 PM How do I write the character 止 for 'stop' with Microsoft pinyin? Quote
HerrPetersen Posted January 20, 2016 at 02:40 PM Report Posted January 20, 2016 at 02:40 PM Did you try "zhi3"? Don't know ms pinyin though. Quote
Altair Posted January 20, 2016 at 02:47 PM Report Posted January 20, 2016 at 02:47 PM I am using Windows 10 with Microsoft Pinyin. To output 止, I type "zhi," then use my mouse or type the corresponding number to select 止. If 止 does not appear among the choices, I click the ">" that will appear to the right of the last character (For me, it was 志.), and a new set of possibilities (all pronounced "zhi") will appear. You can keep doing this until 止 appears, and then click on it or type its number. Note that the ordering of the candidate characters seems to change based on your previous selections. At least mine did. Quote
Jonathan00 Posted January 20, 2016 at 07:10 PM Author Report Posted January 20, 2016 at 07:10 PM Bingo! I typed zhi and several other combinations, but none of the 8 options that appeared were a match. With MS Pinyin on Windows 10, the '>' arrow to scroll for additional options doesn't appear until you move the mouse over the right-most option. Thanks. 1 Quote
