Help in transcribing handwritten characters (names)

Hello,

 

Can someone help me to transcribe these Chinese characters? They are handwritten and I need to have the computerized, digital versions of the characters...

 

These are Vietnamese names of people from Chinese descent. They all deceased a long time ago, so I cannot ask them themselves anymore...

I'm not sure about some of them, but I'll have a try:

1. ？江水　(can't understand the surname).

2. 郭碧雲

3. 蘇金清

4. 蘇龍

1. It's probably a badly written 区 ōu .

 

8. That 芝-looking character actually looks like a scribbled 苏 (蘇) and not the character for Tái . 芝 in the unihan database has Vietnamese reading "chi" so I'm not sure it is the correct character.

 

9. The middle character could be 氏 which marks the surname and might not be part of the name.

1. 区 indeed makes sense. In traditional Chinese, that would be "區" (I trust Google translate for that). I just found this Vietnamese article:

"Âu (區) là một họ Trung Quốc có nguồn gốc ở tỉnh Quảng Đông. Họ này cũng có mặt ở Việt Nam." My Vietnamese is not perfect, but I can understand that they say this is a Chinese surname from the province of Guan Dong, which makes sense as many Chinese immigrants in Vietnam come from that area. So I think that's correct.

 

8. The woman who wrote it only writes in Traditional Chinese.  苏 is simplified Chinese, so I don't think she meant this character. So she's probably mistaken. Her Chinese was a bit rusty. I guess I'll have to ask her again about that one.

 

9. Probably so. I've seen that character before in Vietnamese women's names.

1.  Surname looks like 歐.

In the first picture I can almost see a little 'h' on character's top-right side. I wonder if it could be 歐/欧?

 

Very interesting about the history of 歐/區. I hadn't researched my Chinese surname before.
