A friend of mine wants to learn sumi-e, and he has asked me to find him a Chinese name to have his own seal. His name is Javier (like Francis Xavier, who died while waiting to set foot on mainland China). What do you think of 廉嘉卫? The transliterations I've found for Javier seem quite ugly to me (哈韦尔).

Don"t forget the seal will, or should be, carved with traditional forms. As well, I think there's much to be said for avoiding characters with a lot of strokes. Write out the name a few dozen times first to see how the signature feels.
