Which Elements can I remove in this simple sentence?

你 什么 时候 要 开始 上班 is the original sentence. Can I remove, alternatively, 要 and 开始 without affecting the meaning?

你 什么 时候 开始 上班

你 什么 时候 要 上班

I have strong feelings about the second one.

Also, will 让 at the begining of the sentence serve the same purpose as 吧 at the end? ("let's" suggestion)

One more: 咱们 and 我俩, is there any difference?

咱们: we, including the person(s) you're speaking to. Can be more than two persons.

我俩: the two of us. I think this doesn't necessarily include the person you're speaking to, but wait for others to confirm that.

I would really appreciate if you developed the slight differences.

OK, I'll try my approach:

你 什么 时候 要 开始 上班    "When are you starting your work session" (next one, could be today or tomorrow's)

你 什么 时候 开始 上班         "When do your work sessions start" (as in, when do you start work everyday?)

你 什么 时候 要 上班             No idea, maybe the same as the first one? I don't think it could serve as "When are you getting a job?", could it?

你几点上班? - What time do you start work [every day]?

你几点要上班? - What time will you start work [today, or another day if this has been previously established in the conversation]?

“几点” is better than “什么时候” here, because “几点” is normally used for times of day. “什么时候” is more often used for longer time frames, such as dates, seasons, etc.

I think I failed my first interpretation of the sentence

你 什么 时候 要 开始 上班

Can this the meaning: When are you going to start working? (You lazy freeloader, when are you starting that new job you say you got?)

Don't you think this is asked to a person who currently doesn't have a job and is about to get one? I hadn't thought of that until demonic duck noticed that  什么 时候 is used for longer periods of time.  I don't know if 上班 can be used for job position as well as work session, like in english.

咱們 is almost equivalent to 我們 or we.

我倆 means "both of us". The character 倆 consists of 2 parts, 兩 + 人,which means 2 people. Furthermore, I think 我倆 implies a more intimate relationship, like "a close friend and I" or my girlfriend (boyfriend) and I.

上班 literally means to go to work or to start work. Derived from the literal meaning, it can also refer to getting a job position and working hours, depending on the situations it is used.

But when you indicate a task or a project at work, you should use "工作" instead of 上班.

To answer OP'squestion, it's really like English in this case.

要 - have to

开始 - start

so

你 什么 时候 要 开始 上班 "When do you have to start 上班"

你 什么 时候 开始 上班 "When do your start 上班"

你 什么 时候 要 上班 "When do you have to 上班"

上班 is as yosondysh's post, depending on the context.

Since all three sentences have slightly different meanings, you cannot remove something without changing the meaning.
