dr_k3nny Posted March 29, 2016 at 06:45 AM Report Posted March 29, 2016 at 06:45 AM Dear all, my wife and I are expecting a baby girl and we would like the name of our baby to be in teochew. However we are not sure how to spell or anglicize iit in Teochew. Could someone help us? We have decided on 陈语嫣 for her name Thank you all! Quote
Michaelyus Posted March 31, 2016 at 08:10 AM Report Posted March 31, 2016 at 08:10 AM Hi there! Are you romanising 陈语嫣 in Singaporean style? Or do you want a style that is more linguistically valid? Tan Goh-Yeng would probably be a usual Singaporean ad hoc romanisation. Dang5 Ghe2-iêng1 is the form official linguistic romanisation from the Guangdong Provincial Educational Department (according to Mogher anyway). Quote
dr_k3nny Posted March 31, 2016 at 09:58 AM Author Report Posted March 31, 2016 at 09:58 AM Hi ! Thank you for your reply Yes we are looking to romanizing it so that we can spell it in dialect in her birth certificate. I did use mogher as well to check on the pronounciation. However we couldn't figure out a best spelling way for the word 语. Are there any other way to romanize 语? Thank you for your help! Quote
